Anfield Legend Robbie Fowler Wants Harry Redknapp As New Gaffer

Rafa Benitez left Liverpool last week after a disappointing season in which the Reds dropped out of the Champions League at the group stage and finished seventh in the Premier League, meaning they only qualified for the Europa League.

Redknapp has had a successful stint at White Hart Lane since he was appointed in 2008, as they were in the relegation zone when he took over and he guided them into the Premier League top four last season. However, the Premier League 2010/11 odds suggest they will struggle to repeat the performance.

A number of top managers from across Europe have been linked with the managerial hot seat at Anfield, but Fowler has given his backing to Redknapp as Liverpool fans look for the man to bring success back to the club.

Fowler said: "You want someone who has done well in the Premier League and knows how it works so you know, as a top man, why not Harry Redknapp?

"He's done fantastic with Spurs and he would be a very good manager for Liverpool."

Despite leaving the Premier League under somewhat of a dark cloud, it appears Benitez will not be without a club for long.

The Spaniard is set to be unveiled as the new head coach of Champions League holders Inter Milan, after the club's president Massimo Moratti indicated he would take over after Jose Mourinho's departure to Real Madrid.

Meanwhile, England's footballers are preparing to justify the 2010 World Cup odds that make the third favourites to win this year's tournament.

However, they will have to do it without captain Rio Ferdinand who has injured his ankle.
