Blackburn Will Fail With Becks And Ronaldinho, But It Shows They Are Ambitious

Date Added: January 05, 2011 05:48:52 PM
Author: Drew Swainston
Category: Teams: UEFA: England: Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn seem about as likely to sign Ronaldinho and David Beckham during the January transfer window as Manchester United are to be relegated, but the mere fact that they are prepared to offer Ronaldinho L20 million to play in the north of England for three seasons is a sign that the club's owners really do mean business.

Despite the fact that the club's Indian owners are not quite in the same mega-rich league as Manchester City's owners, or Chelsea's Roman Abramovich, they are clearly rich enough to be prepared to get Blackburn back towards the top of the Premier League, even if the football odds suggest it will be a long journey.

With Sam Allardyce and his survivalist style of football rejected by the new owners almost immediately, Rovers fans may finally start to see their side play the kind of football that once propelled them to the title of Premier League champions. However, although this process is likely to be an exciting one, it is also an approach that comes with considerable risk, with Blackburn likely to spend the second half of the season fighting off relegation rather than looking to undertake a revolution that can propel the side back into the top half of the table and the football predictions reflect this.

As a result of this, Blackburn fans may be wishing for their side to sign a decent striker rather than a luxury player to secure safety. However, should Blackburn survive the season, they will certainly be keen to see their club sign some luxury players such as Ronaldinho or even David Beckham.
