Galatasary have completed the transfer of Emmanuel Eboue from Arsenal. The Ivory Coast international has penned a four-year contract after passing a medical and agreeing terms with the Turkish side.
The 28-year-old, who joined the Gunners from Belgium outfit Beveren, made 132 Premier League appearances, scoring four goals, in four years at the Emirates Stadium.
Eboue was always likely to leave the Gunners during the summer after manager Arsene Wenger signalled his intention to find the versatile players a new club.
He has operated in defence and midfield for Arsenal, but rarely made a huge impression and was once booed off by his own fans following a disappointing performance.
Eboue becomes the second player to leave Arsenal in as many days, following captain Cesc Fabregas out of the club after the Spanish midfielder opted to return home to boyhood club and European Champions Barcelona.
Eboue and Fabregas join the likes of Gael Clichy, who joined title rivals Manchester City, and Denilson in leaving the club, while the futures of Nicklas Bendtner, Samir Nasri and Manuel Almunia remain unclear.
Following Fabregas’ departure, football betting pundits note how Dutch striker Robin Van Persie has been given the captain’s armband and will start his role in the Champions League qualifier against Udinese.
Meanwhile, new recruit Gervinho has been handed a three-match ban from the FA following his red card against Newcastle on Saturday.
The Ivory Coast forward, who has just arrived at the Emirates following his move from Lille, has been punished for violent conduct after he appeared to punch Newcastle bad boy midfielder Joey Barton in the face during the goalless draw at St James Park.
The 24-year-old appealed against the decision but has failed in his attempts and is likely to miss the huge games against title rivals Liverpool and Manchester United as well as top-flight new boys Swansea. |
