Ferguson Ends Tough Week On A High

Date Added: October 25, 2010 09:02:30 PM

Category: Teams: UEFA: England: Manchester United

Manchester United put a tough week behind them with a late away win over a brave Stoke side. Mexican striker Javier Hernandez again showed his exciting potential by grabbing two goals; firstly in the 28th minute then popping up with a late winner four minutes from time to give United the three points. Stoke had equalised in between through substitute Tuncay Sanli in the 81st minute and looked on course to earn a draw. The brace by the young striker highlighted his finishing ability and showed why Ferguson rates him so highly.

The manager was full of praise for Hernandez, saying “He's got a great attitude to the game, he's got a wonderful demeanour about life and wonderful manners. He speaks the language well, trains really well and he's coming on great.”

Football betting pundits note that the win was United’s first away victory of the season and comes after a nightmare week for the club. With the Wayne Rooney saga hopefully in the past, United will be looking to build on the Stoke win and try catch up with leaders Chelsea, who currently lie five points ahead of them at the top of the table. United would be ahead of their rivals if they had hung onto leads in matches against Fulham, West Brom and Everton but they will need to put those disappointments behind them and focus on the rest of the season.

Ferguson’s side will need to be at the top of their game next weekend when they host Harry Redknapp’s Tottenham Hotspur. While Chelsea will be overwhelming favourites with the football odds to defend their title this season, if any team is going to be able to chase them down, it’ll be Ferguson’s United.
