Inter sack Gian Piero Gasperini

Inter Milan have sacked manager Gian Piero Gasperini after just five games in charge of the club.

Gasperini was appointed as manager of the Milan-based club in June of this year; he replaced Leonardo who left to take up a position with Paris Saint-Germain as director of football.

The former Genoa manager leaves the club after failing to pick up a win in the opening five games in all competitions. Those following the in-play football betting wouldn't have been impressed.

Inter owner Massimo Moratti made the decision following their embarrassing 3-1 defeat last night to newly-promoted Serie A side Novara.

Inter started the season by losing to city rivals AC Milan in the Super Cup, those with live Serie A bets at half time on Inter to win being left surprised and with no money in their online Serie A betting accounts. They began their Champions League campaign with an unexpected home defeat to Turkish side Trabzonspor. The only point they have picked up in the league so far came in 0-0 draw with Roma.

Gasperini has had his critics at the club since day one of his appointment. Many fans did not feel he merited the position at Inter, his best achievement on his CV was a fifth place finish with his previous club Genoa in 2009. He was later sacked by the same club last season after taking just 10 points in their opening 11 games. You can bet on the man who replaces him facing a tough task.

Moratti failed in his attempts to bring in a big name appointment over the summer. Reports suggested that Fabio Capello, Andre Villas-Boas and Marcelo Bielsa were all approached, but turned down the job. He may now try again to find a manger with more credentials, as he looks to recover from the miserable start this season.

Daniele Bernazzani and Giuseppe Barsei took over training following the departure of Gasperini.
