Despite the hype from those set to follow the live match score centre and the number of attacking players on show the United v Arsenal game on Monday night was a huge disappointment.
Tight and scrappy United, forced the win and on balance of play just about deserved it. Those sort of games can happen though. Both these teams didn’t get where they are in the league without knowing how to defend, and sometimes the fear of losing can bring a about a stalemate.
For the neutral viewer the hope is Sunday’s match between the Red Devils and Chelsea will prove different.
After a run of just one league win in seven the Blues have sacrificed their lead at the top of the Premier League and currently sit fourth, three points behind United who have played a game less.
Boss Carlo Ancelotti will hope the return of influential midfielder could be the spark his side needs to get back to winning ways. The former West Ham man has been out since August with a hernia problem but made a brief 12 minute cameo appearance against Spurs last week.
His return could mean Ancelotti can field pretty much his first choice line-up for the first time since the summer, with the likes of John Terry, Didier Drogba and Michael Essien all back from injury or suspension. Maybe this is the time we see the real Chelsea again?
For United boss Sir Alex Ferguson he will hope his side will carry on where they left off on Monday. Despite not really hitting the heights this season they are still in unbeaten in the Premier League and have won six of their seven away games.
Those looking at the football live scores this weekend note that a seventh victory could – if other results go their way – see them go five points clear, while Chelsea hope to close the gap on their opponents ahead of the bust Christmas period.
It has all the ingredients of a classic, lets hope this time it lives up to expectations.
