Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini reckons his side deserve to finish in the Premier League top four, but has issued a challenge to ensure Champions League football comes to Eastlands.
The Italian manager has not hid the fact that Champions League qualification was a necessity for City all season, and that dreams seems to be getting closer to reality after the weekend's matches left them seven points clear of Liverpool in fifth.
With four games remaining it looks like City are all but assured that Premier League top four finish that fans have craved, but Mancini has urged his players not to relax and go out in some style by winning all their remaining games.
They face Everton, Spurs, Stoke and Bolton in their remaining matches but there is a chance, albeit a small one, that City could be distracted by their FA Cup final date on May 14th and slip up and let Liverpool or Spurs in for that Premier League top four spot and those looking to bet on Premier League games should remember this.
Mancini claims City are currently "in a good way" but his players cannot relax until May 22nd comes round and the final ball is kicked as they are "under pressure" for that Champions League place.
"We should try to get the maximum number of points that we can," stated the manager.
"I think after what we have done, we deserve to be in the Champions League, but we have another four games - it is not finished."
Carlos Tevez has been the main man at City this season, but it remains to be seen if he can take part in any of their remaining Premier League matches, or indeed the FA Cup final and if he is absent this would no doubt have an impact on the football predictions.
Newspaper reports suggest the Argentine could be back for Wembley and also their final two games in the battle for the Premier League top four finish. |
