Rock-Solid Brazil Favourites Again

Brazil World Cup odds to win the World Cup make them favourites to lift the trophy next month in Johannesburg on July 11.

Dunga’s men have marched into the quarter-finals against Holland and when it comes to World Cup betting Brazil are as short as 9/4 for glory at Soccer City.

Along with Argentina and Spain, Brazil have been vying for favouritism throughout the tournament but the 3-0 demolition of Chile, who looked a decent outfit, has put them at the head of the market once again.

Built on a sound defence Brazil have certainly broken the mould of recent years when they were built on attacking flare, but they do still have talented attacking players in their squad this time around.

Central defenders Lucio and Juan look about the best defensive pairing in the tournament and have not shown too many weaknesses so far.

And full-backs Maicon and Michel Bastos have both, as expected, looked dangerous going forward, but have also looked solid defensively as well. A lot of that is down to Felipe Melo, Gilberto Silva and Ramires.

Between the three of them they have protected Brazil’s back four superbly, allowing Kaka, Manchester City ace Robinho and Luis Fabiano to maraud forward at will.

Ramires is suspended against Holland so Melo is likely to sit in front of the back four alongside Gilberto once gain. It looks like being an intriguing tie, but Brazil’s defensive strength might just be enough to keep Holland at bay and Robinho and co are more than capable of nicking a goal or two at the other end.
