Sturridge Still In Ancelotti's Plans

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has made it clear that Daniel Sturridge will return to the club in the summer and the Italian will resist the temptation to sell the young striker. Sturridge is currently part way through his loan deal with Bolton and the youngster has shone in the time playing regular first-team football, scoring three goals in consecutive Premier League matches since arriving at the Reebok. The Chelsea betting shows how hard the side will have to fight for silverware, and deep down they must be wishing he was scoring goals for them.

However, Sturridge is still way down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and the arrival of Fernando Torres will only have added a further obstacle in the youngster's path to the Chelsea first-team. Ancelotti is still keen for the striker to return to the club in the summer and be ready to start next season with his parent club.

"Every one of us is happy because Sturridge is our player and he is doing very well. I hope he can score more and then in the summer he will come back," he said.

Whether or not Sturridge will be overly keen of taking his place back on the Chelsea bench after spending six months playing regular first team football remains to be seen but it is doubtful. Unless Ancelotti can promise Sturridge more game time than before then the striker will need to move in order fulfil his potential. This is the first time in the 21-year old's career that he has played regular Premier League football and the thought of sitting back on the bench won't excite Sturridge and the football rumours will no doubt link him with a move away from the club.

As it stands though, Chelsea won't be selling and Bolton boss Owen Coyle is completely understanding of the situation but the Scot is sure to be asking a question or two regarding the striker's future when the season draws to a close.
