The world cup in Russia has kicked off with the hosts putting on a show against a very poor Saudi Arabia side. Russia were entering the tournament lacking form but will now be full of confidence following there five to nil victory. In the process they scored several world class goals so have to be fancied by many to now progress through to the knockout stages. The world cup is the biggest event of the year so will be broadcast to most of the world with fans from all over supporting there national sides. It comes around once every four years so excitement is certainly reaching fever pitch for sporting fans.

The Betfair World Cup odds are favouring record champions Brazil. They are currently the outright 4/1 favourites which will come as no surprise as they are the most successful side in the history of the competition and with a team full of talent, such as Neymar, Philippe Coutinho and Gabriel Jesus. Their attack is going to provide a major threat to any defence. The nearest challengers in the betting are defending champions Germany who are in at 5/1. They are entering the tournament possibly not in the best form but they always perform on the biggest stage so Russia is likely to be no different. There squad is full of experience and they will be expected to be challenging at the latter end of the tournament. They have however started off the tournament with a defeat to the hands of Mexico which is the first major shock of the world cup.

World cup kits have continued to change over time which can be seen in the infographic and animation below. They have progressed from a way of distinguishing between the two sides to having performance enhancing elements. The kits are now a major element of each side and many will be showcased over the coming weeks in Russia such as the ever popular Nigeria kit.
