Vela Future Suggests Wenger Still Blinded By Faith

While faith in players is a virtue that some managers need to take more notice of while trying to develop it in their own style, Arsene Wenger is a manager who seems to be unable to let go of players whom he has put faith in previously, with the current example of Carlos Vela retained as a symbol of Wenger being simply unable to move on players who fail to fulfil their potential.

Having perhaps been burnt in years gone by after watching the likes of Sebastian Larrson and David Bentley go on to have decent careers after being released by Arsenal during Wenger's reign as manager, these examples do suggest that Wenger is right to be cautious about who he should be letting go, but it is perhaps his lack of patience with these two players that cost him, rather than a lack of judgement. Those following the Manchester City betting tips will know Wenger's failings mean they are not even certain to finish in the top two or three next season.

Following this regret, Wenger has really struggled to hint that the likes of Vela and Abou Diaby should leave the club despite being signed as promising youngsters while never actually turning that potential into anything at all special, to the point where Wenger has been derided by his club's own fans and has seen demands of a squad clear-out originate from fans who are normally seen as some of the most passive in European football. Still, the football betting odds suggest that something needs to be done.

With Wenger all too aware that he is running out of time to win trophies with the club before risking abuse from the stands and the tearing down of the 'In Arsene we trust' banner, the club knows that now is the time for Wenger to regain his ruthless streak, even if he risks losing out on players who could revive their careers after leaving the club.
