Wolves Set For Big Boost

It may have been a long wait for Wolves fans to see their L4 million summer signing Stephen Hunt, but the Irishman is now ready to go and looking to make an immediate impact to help their battle against Premier League relegation.

Mick McCarthy's side have endured a tough opening few months to their Premier League season, and sit second-bottom of the table after seven games. The experienced manager bought Hunt during the summer from Hull City despite the fact he had not played since February because of a broken foot.

Finally it seems that long-standing injury is over and he is likely to be thrown straight back into league action as Wolves look to end their recent dismal form which has seen them lose four games in a row. They face the only team below them in the table, West Ham, at the weekend, and after a 45-minute run-out for the reserves Hunt is raring to go. People who bet on Premier League games should bear this in mind.

Hunt claims his return is "obviously a bonus" to the Wolves team and the fact he has been out so long with a foot problem will not affect the way he plays his football.

The 29-year-old stated: "We have good enough players to make things happen and come Saturday I'll add something to the team."

McCarthy knows that many football fans expected the dreaded 'second season syndrome' to hit Wolves this campaign, and has admitted the clash with West Ham at Molineux is already a "huge game" so early in the season and the Premier League betting offers reflect that.

He is looking for his players to "give a performance" and step up as they have a "really tough" run of games coming up, and lack of confidence in them means they could be marooned in a long and painful Premier League relegation battle all the way through till May.
